Accountants and payroll specialists for startups and software companies.

Your own accountant handles SaaS subscriptions, custom development, EU customers, Stripe fees and your first hires, and goes through your numbers before each return.

Startups overview

Clear accounts
from your
first quarter

A software company usually sells to customers in several countries, gets paid through a gateway that invoices it from another EU country, and spends on development before it bills anyone. Each of those has its own VAT and tax treatment.

You upload invoices on the Numonis platform and your Stripe data arrives on its own. Your accountant checks every figure before it goes into a return and keeps your accounts up to date from the first quarter. That is what investors will ask to see in a funding round.

Six things your accountant handles in a startup

Some of this applies from your first invoice to a customer abroad, and some only once you hire or get ENISA certification.

  1. EU business customers

Services to companies in other EU countries carry no Spanish VAT. We register you in the ROI and declare those sales in Modelo 349 with key S.

  2. EU consumers

Up to €10,000 a year of sales to EU consumers, you charge Spanish VAT. Above that, you charge the customer’s country’s VAT, which we declare through the One Stop Shop on Modelo 369.

  3. Stripe and cloud fees

When Stripe or a cloud provider invoices you from another EU country, your accountant declares the fees by reverse charge in your Modelo 303 and in Modelo 349 with key I.

  4. Startups Law

If ENISA certifies your SL, it pays 15% corporate tax in its first year with taxable profit and the three after, and can defer the tax for the first two.

  5. R&D deduction

Creating, combining or configuring advanced software can qualify; routine maintenance and minor updates do not. We record the costs project by project, as the deduction requires.

  6. First hires

Your payroll specialist registers you as an employer, draws up contracts and payslips, and registers each new developer with Social Security before their first day.

Your accountants can also set up your SL

  • Accounting & tax

Your accountant keeps your accounts up to date, files your taxes on time and sends a monthly report you can read without a translator.

  • Payroll & employment

A payroll specialist handles contracts, payslips and Social Security, and answers your questions about hiring.

  • Legal & corporate

We file your annual accounts, keep the minute books up to date and draw up the agreements your company needs.

  • Company formation

We reserve the name, arrange the notary, file with the registry and register you with Hacienda. Your accountant takes it from there.

Autónomo or SL?
We look at that first

  1. 01

    A call about your business

We ask what you sell, to whom and in which countries, and look at whether an autónomo or an SL suits your partners, your investors and your plans.

  2. 02

    Your own accountant

You can reach your accountant by WhatsApp, email, chat or video call, or see them in person in A Coruña, Teruel or Mérida. A labour specialist joins once you hire.

  3. 03

    Paperwork and handover

We register you under the right IAE heading and in the ROI if needed, agree how Stripe and cloud invoices reach us, and take over from your current accountant.

  4. 04

    Every month

Your accountant keeps your accounts up to date and files VAT and corporate or income tax on time. Payroll starts once you hire.

What people ask before joining Numonis

Which IAE heading does a software business use?

As an autónomo programmer, group 763 of the second section. A company moves to the matching activity in the first section, often heading 845. You register with Modelo 036.

Is a SaaS subscription taxed like custom development?

Not always. Supplying software and its updates remotely counts as an electronically supplied service, while IT consultancy is treated as advice, so the VAT can differ. It is worth having your accountant classify what you sell before you send an invoice.

What does the Startups Law offer my company?

With ENISA certification, an SL pays 15% corporate tax in its first year with taxable profit and the three after, and can defer the tax for the first two without interest if it files on time. The certification is not open to autónomos.

Does Numonis connect to Stripe?

Yes. Stripe connects to the Numonis platform, so your payments, fees and payouts reach your accountant on their own, and they go through them before every return.

How much does it cost for a startup?

It depends on whether you work as an autónomo or through an SL, how many transactions you move and how many people you employ. Plans for companies start at €99 + VAT a month, plans for autónomos at €49 + VAT, and setting up an SL costs €280 + VAT.
